i am currently holding my breath for 1hr 36min 23sec... so
far..

thanks jody! - as i said im still holding my breath, but it
seems to 
have settled down.. completely!
i hope it holds up..

Sounds like it will.  Which did you use.  3.8g from specials or 3.8i from their beta?  Be sure to forward the crash notifications you get to support.  Everytime I've done that they've identified something they've stabilized in later releases.

Notice all the fix listings.

I didn't run 3.8f8, but did have issues with a random crash seperated by days with 3.8f1 or 2, I don't remember.  Upgrading fixed that for me.

Before an upgrade, I always backup nwauth.txt and nwauth.add and surgemail.ini.
