Like a coiled spring?
Did you know that the springs on your car have an average
tolerance of 15% in either direction (per quality control by the
manufacturer)? Two identical springs can literally have a 30% variance
between them.
And some types of steel / manufacturers see various
tension levels at various compressions.
Yet, when a person turns their street car into a Tuner,
they rarely pay attention to replacing the springs.
... so you are "watching it" with a variance of 15% to
30%, right? : )
We've also experienced support calls regarding the
occasional Timeout when a user sends .doc file attachments or large jpgs from a
Dialup account, but since it wasn't happening on the DSL accounts, I'd
attributed the problem to (a) the 6k per second of their dialup connection or
(b) the anti-virus software on their computers periodically checking for pattern
file updates... which puts the email connections on hold sometimes (when the
anti-virus software thinks that it's protecting the computer by doing
so.)

Well, I upgraded anyway to 3.8i-1 (after making a second
backup to my backup) And had the client run another check on the mass
emailing. This one went through without difficulties. So while I'll
watch it like a coiled spring, it seems to be okay.

lol even more if alcohol is involved.
Going up to 3.8i seems to have settled things out just
fine. Guess 3.8f3-3 was an anomaly. odd bit was - Surge crashed
4 times overnight - but kept on chugging away - however slower. Once
morning came and the traffic went up - then it ceased
working.
I think the .doc file one was a different thread
however.
