Thread: capture email

capture email

I have a customer that wants to capture all inbound and
outbound email
for their domain in a mailbox. They want to be able to
download or look
at it using Outlook. So using the archive function won't
work.

I put in a domain rule, but that appears to only capture
inbound
external mail. Outgoing email and incoming email from a
domain local to
Surge is not captured this way according to my testing.

Any pointers or help here?

Thanks,
Lyle

Ok, I was a bit quick. The domain rule does catch ALL
inbound email.
But it doesn't catch any outbound email. Is there a way to
'mirror'
outbound email this way?

Thanks,
Lyle

We have successfully used the following two rules to do
exactly this;
has been in place for over two years now:

g_redirect_cc was="*domain.com"
to="auditinanotherdomain.com"
g_redirect_from_cc from="*domain.com"
to="auditoutanotherdomain.com"

The administrator of domain.com has a "secret"
machine to download all
messages from the two audit mailboxes.

Note that incoming and outgoing are treated separately, and
that they go
to mailboxes in another domain to avoid loops.

There is no change to the headers of the original message,
and thus the
users are not alarmed.
