size of surgemail

I was surprised at the amount of space taken up on the
/usr/local/surgemail directory when the mail stores are at
/home/surgemail. 

One thing I noticed was a directory
/usr/local/surgemail/tmp3 and it
looks like a whole bunch of temporary files related to
emails being
imported back on Oct 1st. 

Is it safe to just empty this directory?
