We are using surgemail_38i3_linux
Few of our users are complaining that they receive empty emails (body is empty). Subject is intact. Has anyone faced such a problem? At this point of time I really don't have more info :-(

There's a virus or spam going around with a blank body
& with a .pdf attachment. Is that what the users are
experiencing?
If not, then have them show you the message. If it's
a message that the SpamDetect lines are added to the top of the email body, then
it's a malformed email. There are at least 5 variations that I've seen --
particularly emails with <head></head> below the SpamDetect lines
that were added. The solution is to (a) approve the sender (add to
recipient's whitelist under Friends section) or (b) not add the SpamDetect lines
in the body for that customer or (c) have the customer switch to Outlook
Express, which shows all variations correctly.

Upgrade to this binary I think it 'might' fix that, but I'm
not sure.

Let me know if it continues.

hi
It seems to be a PDF problem.Using SurgeMail Version 3.8l-4 These are our observations.
1. If we send a PDF attachment using an email client (Thunderbird/Outlook) the receiver gets the PDF file as expected
2. If we use webmail using IE, no problem 3. If we use webmail using Firefox (2.0.0.5) the PDF file is getting corrupted. We do see an attachment link but the contents of the PDF file are seen in the "body" o the message.
How can we rectify this problem?

We are running 3.8j-7 with webmail 3.1s, using Surge skin and on this
workstation, FireFox 2.0.0.5 on Windows and I am not able to duplicate
your issue.
Is the sender putting anything in the body of the message? I have seen
an empty body plus attachment cause problems, but have not seen that
issue for about 2 years.

Lyle I was sending test messages. So just few words in the body.

This means the 'inbox' for that user doesn't exist, My guess
is you
might be using a network share that surgemail
cannot create a folder on, anyway the real error will be in
imap.log or
mail.log (the surgemail log files)
And try connecting with another email client as well and see
if that
shows the same error.
