Also please don't take offense with my comments about your command of
the english language. I wanted to point out some issues with what you
wrote and to help a bit here.
I run a mirrored Surgemail system here. From my knowledge, only
webmail can be separated from the mail databases. Much of the design
of Surgemail is modular from what I know and you can put webmail on a
server other than a surgemail server. Otherwise, pop3, smtp and other
user authentication must take place on a server that holds the mail and
nwauth database.
My configuration is such that I have incoming email going to a
spam/virus filter appliance and then forwarded to Surge. Right now,
that incoming email goes to server b from the appliance. I have clamav
with a couple of spam addons running on it. so that is a secondary scan
of email on the b server. The b server has a complete mail and user
database on it and after accepting the message stores it in it's mail
database and via mirroring puts a copy over on server a.
The a server handles all client traffic and therefore all outbound smtp
traffic from the clients.
Both servers have a full mail database and user database. You really
can not separate the mail from the user authentication in Surge. The
closest I can think of is to have a shared NFS volume for the mail
store. I have not attempted that configuration. But I really liked
the idea of hot redundancy by using mirroring in Surge. By putting the
two servers behind a NAT, it's easy to re-point the ports on the NAT
box in case of a failure of one server.
And no, surgemail does not have a frontend/backend setup like you are
thinking about.

===>>> i donot really know Can Surgemail support

They basically have two configurations for
Surgemail, standalone or
mirrored. In mirrored mode, the two servers are
basically peers and
there is no front/back end relationship. Although
they use the words
Master & Slave, the only area that really cares is
list management.
Dlist really only runs on the Master.
If you configure Surge correctly as peers and mirror
the configurations,
any domains and user accounts are mirrored between
the servers, so that
an account or domain created on one server 'appears'
on the other.
===>>> Thanks for your guide to config mirror with
Surgemmail
But with this configuration, mail account and mail
database will be stored on two server. I need just
only store mail database on one server, the other
will responsibility for authenticate users, antispam,
and scan virus.
Please re-read what you write. I can see English is
not your first
language and you are struggling with that. But you
are also making some
conflicting statements. Your wording about creating
b.com is confusing
at best, I am not certain exactly what you did here.
===>>> Exactly, English isnot my first language, so
i'm very sorry if you didnot understand what i wrote.
And a.com or b.com is local domain, for LAB only.
What are you useing for user authenication? NWAuth?
If so, you should
be mirroring NWAuth between the servers. In
webadmin, Global Settings
--> Clustering --> Advanced Mode -->
Replication(Mirroring) section.
===>>> Yes, i'm using NWAuth for authentication.
I am guessing that you have the same OS on both
servers, so I would
recommend turning on 'Mirror surgemail.ini to/from
mirror host'. I know
it is marked BETA, but it makes things easier if
you setup both servers
the same way.
===>>> Finally, i need to configure Surgemail can only
store mail database on one server, and the other will
responsibility for authenticate users, antispam, and
scan virus. Please show me how to do this ?
Tks for your reply
Best Regards.

Thanks for your advice.
I have two server with the same subnet ( for
example:
200.100.0.1/24 as Frontend, 200.100.0.2/24 as
backend), and there's no firewall or NAT
environment
betwwen them.
Now I configure Surgewall for first domain a.com (
default domain ) on FE (FrontEnd)is 200.100.0.2,
then
i creat new account a1 on BE (BackEnd), i can send
and
receive email from Outlook express on PC ( Ip:
200.100.0.3, with incoming: 200.100.0.1, outgoing:
200.100.0.1) sucessfully.
But when I creat new domain b.com on FE, i also
config
SurgeWall for b.com and creat new account b1 on
BE, i
cannot send and receive email on PC with the same
setting of incoming and outgoing.
Can you help me to resolve it ?
Tks in advance.

Tks very much.
You'll need to explain to the list what you want
to
do. Are you configuring
for two servers that are seperated by different
IP
subnets, are they both
internet facing, are they in a NAT'ed
environment,
do either/both have a
firewall between them and the internet, is port
25
blocked for one of
them...
No one can tell you how to configure your
server(s)
without knowing what
you want to accomplish and how you're environment
is
setup. Any setup
without that knowledge is just guessing at what
you
might want to
accomplish.
