>>Internally AT&T is pushing towards all
email sent/received via ssl for their customers. Lyle
For years, I have known that there are some spammers who try to
capture the Logins to your mail servers by using certain *nix
tools.
For our customers who don't use SSL, I see, categorically,
they receive more spams than those customers who use SSL.
Also, on another note, many new WebServers serve out web
pages using Compression.
!! An idea for ChrisP at Netwin would be to investigate
using Compression in Surgemail when emails are sent/received. This could
also be implemented in DBabble initially, then Webmail (because IE7 supports
compression), then on to Sugemail itself - for emails between other
Surgemail servers. While it isn't "SSL", it would prevent snooping 99% of
the time; plus it would be invisible, and it would be a good Marketing
feature.
and...
While "broadband" is available nationwide here in the USA,
only 65% of the people live in areas served by a broadband provider, leaving the
remaining customers (who live outside the broadband areas) to still use Dialup
connections.
Having Compression in Webmail on a Dialup connection would
be a great feature! and a great selling point for us to obtain new
customers.
