Surgemail Mirror Setup - Can't get it to work

Hi,

I am having problems getting a mirror setup to work. I have checked and rechecked configuration: All seems to be correct. For some reason, the Master is displaying “-ERR Unknown command, try again̶1; messages in the Status screen.

Has anyone else had similar experiences and/or tips on what I should do to make this work?

Best regards,

Robert

Hi Barry,

Thanks for willingness to help. I’ve double-checked, and can confirm that:

           ; g_mirror_mode: ;        ;    .ini A = “MASTER̶1;, .ini B = “SLAVE”

           ; g_mirror_host: ;        ;      .ini A = x.x.x.3, ini B = x.x.x.2 (thus pointing to each other)

           ; g_mirror_secret:        ;    .ini A = “mysecretpassword”, .ini B = “mysecretpassword”; (i.e. identical)

           ; No SSL

Btw: Both servers are fully licensed.

           ;

This is kinda why IR17;m puzzled why the Master says it’s commands are illegal (se bottom of this mail) “-ERR Unknown
command, try again. -ERR Unknown command, try again.

Regards,

Robert

Well, let's not overlook the obvious....

The main Surgemail should have a license.  The mirror doesn't need a license right away, but will need one after the demo period expires.

Both servers need to be "A" records in the DNS; neither need to be MX records in order for mirroring to work.

g_mirror_mode: one Master and the other Slave

g_mirror_host:  The IP address of the other server (not the name!!)

g_mirror_secret should be the same

Turn off SSL (unless you have 3rd party server certs for both machines)

g_mirror_nwauth_always:  checked  (keeps the user database current)

g_mirror_trash:  checked.

That's all, dude.

Make sure the IP's are not listed in g_gateway

You might want to ADD your 192.x.x.x internal IPs to g_relay_allow_ip and other such settings when ports 25 & 110 are used; but again, not used in the Mirroring.

Barry,

I think I've cheched just about everything. The details I've
copied in at the bottom of this and next mail (chapter 2),
is cut from the bottom of Status --> Advanced UI.
All g_mirror... settings from mirror.htm are in the .ini and
appear to be correct.

I'm sure this stuff is supposed to work, only I haven't
found out how, just yet. So any assistance on the way is
highly appreciated...

Best regards,
Robert
