Is there a problem with putting the mail in a different location?

I am doing a NEW setup..

Can I put all of the mail in a   /mail  volume?

What all do I have to change??  anything besides the
surgemail.ini file?

Do I have to change any permissions anyplace else?

I'm running REd HAt ES5

Yes.

Nothing, just change mailbox_path for any existing domain
and g_mailbox_path 
as the default for any future created domains.

Just make sure the new mailbox path permissions are the same
as the old 
mailbox path and you should be right.
