first look at the headers, if the message is from a domain
other than 
yours then it won't be signed. Also if it's not smtp
authenticated it 
might not be signed.

There are some fairly strict rules employed to decide if to
sign a 
message and you'll see a log entry saying when it decides to
sign a 
message or not (but only in mail.log so you will need to be
able to 
resend the problem message to catch the reason)
