Webmail and Safari - can't get to login page

Hello,

I sent this message to Surgemail Support earlier today, and I figured I'd throw it out to you guys as well...

Surgemail 3.8p8 on Linux with the corresponding version of Webmail.

I have a new webmail user trying to use Safari on a Mac. My system defaults to using the Smooth template. I've done it before on occasion, and as long as I change the template on the logon page to Surge, it works fine, but he's claiming that he can't even get to the logon page. He says he gets:

Unexpected Error Occurred

Failed to Locate Template {/login.tpl} Failed to Locate Template {/login.tpl} Failed to Locate Template {error.tpl} Expected Template ini Setting Incorrect

Unfortunately I don't have access to a Mac in order to confirm. If I try from a Windows pc it works. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bob

Give me a URL to your webmail.exe and I'll try it on my
Safari.

Safari works fine with my SM installation on OS X.

Thanks for testing it for me, Warren. It's all very weird. I found the following error in the webmail log:

 Error: TPL: Failed to Locate Template {/usr/local/surgemail/webmail/masterset/masterset/surge/error.tpl}{2=No such file or directory}

Note the repeating "masterset", which is clearly wrong. But why it happens only to this one user is a total mystery.
And why is it referring to "surge"? The default template is "smooth". Perhaps webmail really doesn't like something about his browser and is trying to automatically (and incorrectly) switch to surge?

Maybe the Netwin guys have an idea....

I had no trouble getting the smooth template up on my Safari 3.1.1 on OS X 10.5.2 and the same Safari version on OS X 10.4.11.

Just for fun I also tried it with Safari 1.3.2 on OS X 10.3.9 and it worked there as well. I don't seem to have any Safari 2.x installs anywhere though -- couldn't test 2.x.

If I had to guess, I'd say the problem is at the user's end.

Have him update his Safari to 3.1.1. Also have him try
another browser.

Final update... After I upgraded SM to 3.9e and the user upgraded to Safari 3.1.1 AND he cleared his browser cache, it is working.

Thanks again to Warren for his help last night!

Best regards,

Bob
