Kim, tiff is the lossless file format most often used for swapping between
people and programmes. What format do you save your photos in usually?
A D50 file is about 18 Mbs when opened, if you save it as a jpg it can be
much smaller than that but it always loses some data. A PSD file (the default
Photoshop format) saves it at about 18 Mbs as does a tiff file; but that is
only if the file is flattened.
We could do with some more details about it, such as are you passing this on
to someone, using it on your own computer, want to save the file with any
layers you've created?
Andy
I store all my files off my disk. I have been asked to produce some
background tiffs for photoshop. You know the kind that you use on green screen. So
any helpful tips would be great.

I would encourage you to proceed carefully - tiffs are huge files
and eat up disk space quickly!
