I currently have the nikkor 18-55mm and the Nikkor 55-200 (non VR)
lenses. I have a friend from out of state that wants to trade my
lenses with his Sigma 18-200mm. The idea is nice that I do not have to
switch lenses whenever the need for higher zoom arises (or vice
versa). I am pretty satisfied on the quality of pictures I take with
the Nikkor lenses. Now, the big question is... the quality of the
Sigma lens. Would I see any noticable difference on the picture
quality? Would this be considered a downgrade or an upgrade? Best
off, is it a good trade. OR Shall I just stick with my current
lenses... I am not a professional photographer, I like to take good
quality pictures of my family. And I do some compositions as well...
nothing big though... Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have no experience with the other lenses, but I just got the Sigma. I like
it..but, I am no expert. It seems to be well built and the pictures I have
taken have been good.

Sigma makes 2 versions of this lens the DC and the DC OS HSM which
is their version of Nikon's SWM they are worth about $440 and $500
respectively. Before i'd do the deal i'd compare all their
capabilities and determine what you will be giving up and what you'll
be gaining to see if it's worth it to you. a good place to compare
reviews is
