Ouch, definitely sounds like the data on your card got
corrupted somehow.  All
may not be lost, however.  Try a image recovery program
(most top brand cards
come with their own software) and see if the pics can be
salvaged.

Only after you've tried everything possible to get your
images back, you
should format it again in the camera and either take some
pictures with it
and/or transfer some files from your pc to it.  If this is
succesful, this is
no 100% guarantee the card is fine, but it is likely.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your replies. I've put the card aside for the
moment and
I'll try the file transfer test you suggested Hayo.

I'm a Mac user, so chances of the card getting a virus from
the
machine is pretty much zero (happy to say we're kind of
bullet-proof
in that regard). I can only think that the card has
glitched.

If I get to the bottom of the mystery I'll report back here
incase it
happens to anyone else.
