Stan,

I was wondering about posting both leaf images. Thanks for verifying my
concern.

If I had to choose between the two, I would pick the one that isolates
the leaf by itself. Which would you have picked?

I agree, but the important thing is that you yourself have identified
the features that make one more appealing than the other to your own
eye.

As you look at images, whether your own or those of others, keep
thinking about what you like and dislike about an image.

The nice part about being an amateur is that you only need to make
images that you like, not images that someone else likes!
