I agree the 50mm f/1.4 is an excellent lens, arguably one of Nikon's

However, Omar expressed an interest for concert hall venues and is
contemplating an f/2.8 Sigma 50-150mm zoom which should be suitable
especially if one is far from the stage. Browse this website for
seating charts of most major venues to see what I mean -- closer seats
cost more money:

The 50mm f/1.4 would be my choice if I knew I'd be close up and didn't
need a telephoto lens. My second choice would be a Nikon ED-IF AF-S
VR-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G, but that's more than 2x Omar's presumed
budget (based on the price of the Sigma).
I'm sorry, I don't have any other suggestions. FWIW, I've very, very
pleased with the two Sigma lenses I have.
