Hi Wayne,
I actually did that recently, and highly recommend revisiting old
subjects. Back in 1977, I photographed a rare little orchid,
Cypripedium candidum, my result is posted on TrekNature, see it here
<http://www.treknature.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=153246> , shot
hand-held with my trusty Nikkormat FT2, 50mm Nikkor with an extension
tube on Ektachrome 64 film. Went back several days ago with my D70 and
60mm Micro-Nikkor and associated accessories, on a Velbon Ultra-Maxi F
tripod this time (too shaky nowadays), result of that can be seen here
<http://www.treknature.com/viewphotos.php?l=3&p=165905> .
