teleconverter 20IIe

hi i just picked up a second hand 300mm f2.8 af-I lens
and im wondering why i cant get the teleconverter to fit
is it possible or did i read the manual wrong?
its on a d3,
teleconverter works on my af-s 70-200 f2.8 ok

Tag....This link will give you the compatibility of the popular
teleconverters with any Nikon Lens. It appears that the TC20E will
not connect to your 300....Dave V
