Brand new at B&H or Adorama for 139.95 for the 77mm version ... much cheaper
than any of the Nikkor Micros. If it went for more than that, then people
aren't doing their homework. Admittedly tubes are cheaper but having the
diopter in the pocket to screw on the front gets me what I need and avoids
dust-inducing lens removals especially when I am using the camera in the
desert.

Apparently Chris hasn't priced how much the 500D's cost. you can get a
few older tubes for not much $$ these days, the last 500d I looked at on
Ebay went for crazy money, and unlike most items, they rarely show up on
KEH, at least anytime I've looked for one.
