Phil i have just been on 3 different websites which all indicate
that this lens is not threaded to accept filters . Looking at pics of
the front element I'm not surprised
SLR recently updated their performance evaluation of this lens to
include Full Frame data you might want to check that out at
http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showcat.php/cat/6
The only shortcoming of the G lens with a DSLR would be when using it
with Extension tubes or reversed; though with this lens you obviously
can't use reversing rings with it. Should work great on the D3 . I am
not familiar with the F2; if it takes control of the aperture on
CPU lenses [set aperture ring to Minimum (F22 etc)set aperture from
Camera Body] then I would think it should function ok with G lenses.
>From your Post i would guess it does not; took a quick look at our DX
lenses neither trips the Minimum Aperture switch on our D 50 HMMMMMMM
check out the Manual for this lens at
http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/lenses/AF/AFS14-24G_Jp(B1)03.pdf
That would probably be more helpful with regard to your F2 it does t
list the D3 but not the F2 it says AF and all 4 exposure modes are
not possible with MF cameras
Hope it helps
