Mike,

The Nikon F2 was introduced about 1970 and discontinued in 1980. I think it
was two more generations of the "F" series before the camera could control
the lens aperture. The F2 is a workhorse auto-nothing camera. Metering is
match-needle (or match LED) only. I have two of these bodies and they are
virtually indestructible, even with motor drives attached. Who knows, they
might outlast my new D3.

Doesn't even mention the F2 or F3 at all (except the quirky F3AF).

Thanks Phil sounds similar to the pentax K1000 i started with 27
years back.

I did some trolling but found no data on the F2 so i do appreciate
the info i guess i just like to know stuff even if it may never be
relevant.
I like that Lens but can see some problems . we live near the Sea
and often head down for some nice shots . without a filter I'd
hesitate to use it down there on a windy day for example [ salt spray
and Blowing Sand] and with film of course in many cases 1 would want
to use filters to get the colour right. Shame it probably won't work
out as good as you hoped.

Good Shooting

Mike
