This is my first post and would appreciate some newbie help. I have
purchased 2 MF lens that both have dirt/junk inside the elements. I
have disassembled the 50mm from a breakdown found on the web. I have
the lens core out. Near the front element is a "sorta" screw. It looks
like a screw, but is "off-center"; and "wobbles" when turned. It
doesn't unscrew. Do I need to position this at all? The front element
is supposedly right-hand thread and I was going to make a pvc
remover/glue on it, to screw out. Question really is do I need to do
anything with the "wobble" screw. I don't want to break it!

I also have a 105/2.5 MF that has quite a bit of dirt inside. Any
thoughts/procedures or links that would help me with this one.

Darn these screws are small!
thanx for your help!

Malcolm,

I can't help you with the repairs, but I have both of these lenses myself.
How/where did you find the "breakdown" for them?

I'm also interested in fixing a 55 mm f2.8 Micro Nikkor with a very stiff
focus ring.
