Thanks, I was well aware of that fact. That's why I want to attempt the
repair myself.
Its so funny!!
I wrote in this regard before.
We are a hobby group dedicated to the REPAIR of mostly classic Nikons.
How easy it is to deviate and buy a cheap item from ebay for the express purpose of repair avoidance.
I have taken apart a few Nikkor 50mm/1.8, but I usually (like all my
repairs ) go step by step figuring out as I go along.
As I recall you have to take off the rubber grip to get at some screws. I
use a dental pick - or you could use a piece of heavy wire to go around the
rubber to gently loosen it. Be careful cause if it snaps - not good. Remove
a few sunken screws. Then the barrel twists off. At that point there are
many ways to reinstall, but only one is correct. It's a puzzle!!
