Common problem. Use "BlackTape". Pull the lens all the out to highest zoom. 150mm etc... or larger. Put the tape around the whole barrel. Always worked for me.
Best,

Over the years I've picked up a few lenses that are in less than optimal condition. All have beautiful glass, clean aperture blades and no oil or fungus. So far so good. The problems is that my 75-150/3.5 series E and 80-200/4.5 ai lenses have loose zooms and it's difficult to maintain focus while zooming although it can be done if done carefully. My other problem lens is a 300/4.5 ais with a tight zoom ring. I don't want to send them off for overhaul because they only see occasional use. I do want to get them into good enough shape that they're more usuable than what they are in there current state. I have a 9 year old son who's becomeing a fledgling photographer with my old FM2N and a 50/2 ai lens and I'd like for him to be able to use them someday. He's already dying for a zoom and I'm thinking the 75-150 is light enough to put in his bag. Any ideas for guick and easy fixes? I know they are'nt worth much so that's my reason not to send them off for
repair.Thanks,Mark

The 75-150E is a great little lens; as David said the loose zoom is
a common problem, as is the black plastic tape fix. I just question the
placement, I thought, (fortunately, mine still as a relatively firm
zoom feel), that the tape should be placed lengthwise, usually on the
bottom of the barrel. Never done it, so I might be wrong, but it is
easily installed, tested & removed/replaced as necessary.
