Enabling groups after using addgroup_ox

After I use addgroup_ox to my LDAP server, I do not see the
new groups 
available for using when scheduling appointments (i.e. they
don't appear 
in the Groups: area so that I can select them and click
Extract).  What 
are the remaining steps I need to take to make the groups
available?
