In the quest for a Open-Xchange version that can be included
with Free
software distributions like Debian and Fedora, I have a few
more
question regarding the licenses.
Under what license are all files in version 0.7.5
distributed ?
Under what license are all files in version 0.8.0 to
0.8.2-RC3
distributed ?
Do I understand correctly that distributing the whole tar.gz
archive
under the GPL (like what was done with versions prior to
0.8.2) means
all files in the archive are licensed under the GPL? And
that the "(c)
Netline Internet Service GmbH. All rights reserved."
does not imply that
those files aren't licensed under the GPL?

Hi Erwin,
I think they are _not_ covered by GPL.
Cheers,
Balint

Hi.
Every version before was licensed under the GPL - like you
can see
in the source code - and normal copyright material like you
found out
and you have cited above. Images and logos may fall under
any other
category. Here is a forums thread which is maybe interesting
for you
as well: http://www.open-xchange.org/cg
i-bin/simpleforum.cgi?fid=01&topic_id=1146712501
And because we are not a bunch of lawyers here in Olpe (the
lawyers do not
understand us if we start talking about such topics) but
developers, we got
told to change this and the outcome was a GPL/CC packages
which overwhelmed
us with positive feedback (as you know, i am just kidding by
saying that).
Finally, i said that i go back and discuss this internally
and we did this.
We will have a solution for distributions who do not accept
the CC. The result
will come close to my first ideas which i have pointed out
here on the list.
Greetings and have a nice weekend,
Martin Kauss

Copyright material has to be licensed too, cause else it is
not allowed
at all to copy it. So the question still stands if every
single file in
the pre-0.8.2 version (the one without the CC license) is
licensed under
the GPL.

It has been more than a month now since this message, I
would like to
ask if there has been made any progress?

I answered this clearly in the last mails and now you start
again
with the same kind of questions.
