Hi
I am running Leopard I think build 9A241e Darwin 9.0.0d2
and I have
been able to build this version of OpenAFS but I was unable
to
install the package made with sudo make packages. I got the
following
error.

OpenAFS cannot be installed on this computer. Could not find

specified message for index 16

I have been able to get OpenAFS working from sudo make
dest but
have had several multilingual screens of death while the
machine has
been idle with afs started, running afs and performing
actions on the
local disk, and while copying files into an afs directory
from a
local disk. This afs client seems to be unstable and
unfortunately it
has been leaving no crash logs that I have seen.

Use memcache, or lose, basically. Known bug, and i can't fix
it. I can't
comment further, I think.

MacOS OpenAFS is memcache only?

Derrick:

What's the Apple Radar ID of the bug that creates this
problem? I'll
ask that the MIT Service Engineer add this to the
"short list of bugs
MIT CARES about."

No, Leopard is memcache only. Context is everything. Look at
the subject.

MIT doesn't care, yet.

Thanks for taking the trouble to further clarify the
context. I wasn't
sure if the context was that narrow.

I still want to push on this issue because Leopard is
supposed to have
all the APIs added that make AFS "really work".
If there's a crucial
interface missing, we need to push on that now, and we
probably need to
push on it in many ways.

I leave it up to you if you think MIT getting involved in
this aspect
will or will not help.
