Mass change types?

Is there a way to mass change the type of a group of
documents. What 
I've done is generated some generic type xml content, but
when I try and 
upload them as zip or with applet it marks them as plane
text content. 
Is there a way to convert these to xml type? I have like 860
of them.

Guess I don't understand how to do this. I put the files in
a zip and 
uploaded them, what should be in the zip? I just put two of
my xml 
documents.

I didn't create a jsp that iterates the documents, but when
I use the 
setTypeID it doesn't update the file. Why? How do you get it
to update 
files?
