Well, yes you are quite right to point out that LZX markup
is in a
single namespace but if you are going to publish an XML
schema then the
only way to reference the schema is by using the
xsi:schemaLocation
attribute and it's attendant namespace declaration. If
people are going
to use the schema during editing then the compiler must
support the
presence of the afore mentioned attributes, otherwise it
will be a right
royal pain in the behind if you have to remove those
attributes before
you can render the document.

As a matter of interest, what does the compiler use to
validate an LZX
canvas document?

I'd imagine that it cannot be either the DTD or the XML
schema seeing as
the schema is broken and the DTD does not support foreign
mark-up in a
dataset element.

Now I have just noticed that in the DTD/XML Schema that
there are two
interesting attributes on the dataset element:

namespace
nsprefix

Do they have any baring on this subject?

Thanks for this report. I have added your message to
[LPP-3179]
(http:
//jira.openlaszlo.org/jira/browse/LPP-3179) as being
relevant to
that bug. We know that the dtd is not accurate and that the
namespace
is stale. We hope to address these issues soon.

There are possibly separate issues that should be reported
(the bad doc
link). Whether the canvas tag should accept namespace and
schema
declarations is open to discussion. Our current philosophy
is that LZX
is all in a single (implicit) namespace.
