python and zlib

Hi all!
When I try to use zipfile library in a python script on
windows I 
receive following error
RuntimeError: De-compression requires the (missing) zlib
module

zlib is used by zipfile.py module which is
C:\Programmi\OpenOffice.org 
2.0\program\python-core-2.3.4\lib
Is it a bug of python scripting framework on windows?
