Hi all,
I would like to get some feedback about what to do with this
project. As you probably know, it tends to being too quiet
and its
mission is a little unclear; it's hard not to see how what
we do here
can't be done just as well if not better under the rubric
of
Marketing, say. "If not better": by which I
mean that it's possible
discussions that start here may be getting lost; and
discussions that
start on dev marketing may also be getting lost and not
transferred
here.
So, I'd like to propose something like a solution: Closing
this
project and including it within MP as a sub-project. I'd
also like
to see about closing this list, if that makes sense.
As to the consultants directory: It's too large to manage
easily. I
would like to make it a wiki, and have interested persons
just add
their company's name and other information themselves. The
problem:
I don't know how to transfer it to the wikis on .services
(see http://
wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Main_Page).
The consultants list and any other list could be simply
closed if
inactive or placed within MP, if possible and desirable.
Opinions?
Best,
Louis |

I'm sorry to see, that even your email didn't bring any
feedback till
now. Unfortunately this is the same situation we have in the
germanophone project, where we have a business-mailinglist,
which is as
quit as this list.

I only wanted to write a short answer on this, that we
should have a
think about it, for which objectives this project was
created and how to
change the current situation. But I know, that this is only
promising,
if we have some active members, who can *do* something. I
would like to
do more, but atm I can't :-( May be you are right and
closing this
project is the best solution.

Yes, I think this is a good idea. Nevertheless someone must
take care
of, that the following list entries are not nonsense.

I would be very sorry to see this project dieing without
trying to
revive it.

I must admit, I un-subscribed from Marketing because the there was too
much traffic distracting me from my work day, and not all of the
conversations/comments were that constructive. That was, however, a
long time ago, perhaps things have changed.
If this list is closed and just becomes part of [marketing] then I
doubt I'll be re-subscribing, although perhaps there is a summary I
could read occasionally. Is that what "digests" are? I've never
investigated further.

I think the idea of a Consultants List is very good, perhaps a wiki is
a better way to keep it up to date. What would be the safeguards
against any potential abuse?

Perhaps the objective of BizDev needs to be re-stated or reviewed? It
does seem different to marketing IMO, but I wouldn't rule anything out
(or in) yet.

Quiet is not necessarily bad. There is activity especially
with the
consultants list. You want quiet have a look at groupware.

Better to look elsewhere.

Now that is an idea but how are we on space? I recall asking
about using
the wiki for the doc project and have yet to receive a
definitive answer
about what we can or cannot do. Nonetheless having wiki
access would
allow consultants to update their records easily and timely
manner.

I think Marketing has enough on its plate and doesn't need
this added
burden.
