Installation problem
Operating system - Windows XP [I run both Professional
& Home with the
same effect in both]
On installing the latest version of Open Office v2.3 it
“broke” the association
of file types so that ‘double clicking’ on a file in the
file manager programme
no longer causes that file to open in the relevant element
of Open Office and
produces the error message “Invalid menu handle”.
Opening files using a double click’ worked fine in the
previous version of Open
Office.
The problem appears to be that on installation of v2.3 the
file association
database in Windows is no longer set to “Always use the
selected programme to
open this kind of file”. Manually putting a ‘tick’ in
the ‘always use’ box
resolves the problem.
