When you are sorting numbers, words and dates in calc (fx
testcase 109269 and
109277) the numbers and dates allow you to sort the content
of the column
(column name is header), where words uses the first word as
header and
therefore only is sorting the rest or the words.

Is this behavior a feature? I only checked with danish
version btw.

This is a feature. OOo does the sorting based on a data
range. OOo tries
to guess, what the current data range is and if it has
column labels.
Text fields are considered to be valid labels, numbers not.
You can check (and chand) the setting in the second tab of
the sort dialog.
