Message body:
I am reading the latest OO2 user guide draft and on page 393
in 'Using Openoffice.org over a Network' it suggests
macking
changes to the startup script to comment out the
SAL_ENABLE_FILE_LOCKING environment variable.
What does this environment variable do, and why would I want
to comment it out?
It also suggests that I look at the "system
administration
guide" for the OS in use to get more information - Is
there
such a document? (I'm on linux) - I haven't been able to
find it on the website if it exists.
Currently I am using OO over NFS without commenting out this
environment variable. I notice that if I open a file
someone else has opened, I get a read-only copy, which is
good. If I comment out that environment variable, would
that mean we both get a RW copy?
Also, is there a way to know who else has the file open?
thanks
Ken
