Have a 12 sheet spreadsheet which is saves as office2003
.xls for compatibility.
on 2 occasions i have found that all sheets after the one i
am currently editing
have been cleared of all data and formatting.
I have not noted any errant behaviour of either the PC,
Windows or OO that
correlates to the corruption.
I usually leave my PC running 24/7 and regularly save the
file so cannot readily
identify and action I perform that is co-incident.
The problem also occurred twice using 00 2.2 
I can supply both corrupted and original files if
necessary.
