| Behavior of Ctrl-+ and - to
insert/delete rows |

|
2007-10-04 04:27:06 |
Hi,
I see different behaviour of Ctrl++ on various
installations:
2.3.0 on Win directly inserts a row
2.3.0 on SuSE starts the window Insert Cells
m231 on Win starts the window Insert Cells
Also the latest dev's before 2.3.0 started that window.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Cor

It depends on the current selection. If whole rows are
selected, rows
are inserted. Same for columns, otherwise the dialog is
shown. Maybe
that was the difference.

Anyway, when you have selected a whole row and you perform
Ctrl- one
time, this results in a single cell selected, rather than a
whole
row selected. Thus you cannot delete multiple rows by simply
pressing Ctrl- several times.

Not really. Selecting the whole row does make a difference
in the 2nd
and 3rd case, but with 2.3.0 on XP it isn't needed for the
described
behaviour

Here: Windows 2000, OOo 2.3.0
Behaviour: Directly inserts a row, when an entire row is
selectd.
Shows dialog, when less than an entire row is selected.

Hmm, maybe the difference is caused by the fact that I
possibly once had
edited my keyboard settings, thus resulting in a different a
current.xml
in ...userconfigsoffice.cfgmodulesscalcacceleratornl
??
(I fell the same trap once, I remember now) with a keyboard
shortcut in
Writer).

User configuration does override the new pre-defined
shortcuts. Try the
"Reset" button in Tools/Customize/Keyboard.

User configuration not only overrides pre-defined shortcuts,
it also
prevents new shortcuts (shipped with newer OOo-versions),
also for other
keys, to be implemented without user intervention.
As said: I fell into this little trap before. My bad I
didn't recognize
immediately
(Framework is aware of this configuration problem. Issue number
I can't
find.)
