The main question is: Which project/area are you interested
in? The UI 
project is a project without it own code  UI code is
spread over a 
lot of projects (gsl, framework, sw, sd, sc, ...)

As I'm working at the word processor code most of my time
I'd like to 
invite you to the sw project (to subscribe: 
http://sw.openoffice.org/servlets/ProjectMailingListList
) .

You can also subscribe to the development mailing list 
devopenoffice.org (send an empty mail to
dev-subscribeopenoffice.org).

It's up to you to decide what you want to do.
