Please do not make modern clean fonts like dejavu behave
like the old
proprietary fonts you bought. Your old fonts should be
supported but not at the
cost of dumbing down support for new fonts.
GTK apps already have a font dialog that supports more than
the four standard
legacy styles. Consistency with the desktop platform on
Linux systems should be
preferred over consistency with another platform like
windows. Especially when
one does things right technically and the other - not.
FYI Dejavu is being adopted as the default font by all major
Linux distribution,
so any quirks in its support will be highly visible.
Your patch is a step backwards from the nice fix in issue
#79878. The OO.o UI
should be made better, but better is not pretending than
modern fonts are legacy
fonts, better is making style selection for modern fonts
easier.
