Greetings,
I just signed up to this list after having compiled OOo on
my mac. I
have some questions regarding my compiled version,
particularly why
I'm not seeing the aqua menus displayed in the screenshots
on the
Wiki. I'm also experiencing painful lag in using OOo. It
loads
quickly and without a problem, but once it's loaded and I
clicked
within the text editor and begin to type it can take 45+
seconds for
the first characters to being displaying. I doubt this is
normal
behavior, so I'm curious if maybe anyone else has
experienced this
problem?

If this isn't the purpose for this list, please let me know
and
accept my apologies. I'm excited about the prospect of OOo
on OS X
and am more then willing to aide in any way possible.

Pax.

Good. Be welcome on Mac OS X porting mailing list

I'm glad one people more confirms OpenOffice.org can launch
without
X11, and starts to work

Ok, I see what you mean : the relevant code has not been
commited in
cvs (this is mainly code I wrote), because review has not
been done,
and this is not yet the priority : painting , crashes and
refresh
must be fixed *first* .

Ismael Merzaq and me are working on Aqua Look and Feel, and
the
result will be completed for Ismael Google Summer of Code
2007 (and
available for OOoCon2007, very probably)

Waiting, please explore the archives of the list, I provided
all the
URL where I put patches for the (start of) aqua look.

FYI, and if the mention is missing, all the patches I do
provide are
LGPL Licensed.

The writer lag is now fixed (Philpp Lohmann) . Please update
your
code, rebuild vcl, and try !

Don't forget we have to fix those issues before to provide
alpha :
means you are testing *pre alpha code*.

You are right : they are still refresh issues, and we are
working on
them with first priority.

But 45 seconds of delay is not correct : try to resize the
frame,
and you'll see the blinking cursor, and the text will be
written
correctly.

I have an idea, better say a track, on how to fix that, but
I must
discuss it with Philipp first ( very complicated issue).

Last but not least : Herbert Duerr, the biggest Sun
specialist for
fonts, is currently working on text issues, and no doubt we
will have
something great and working Soon , but this needs time and
patience.

No, it isn't, and any help is welcome to imporve that.

this problem?

Refresh menus, drawing progressed during the week end, with
Michael
Sicotte work.

Please update your code and rebuild : you will see obvious
changes

It is : all developers, and contributors are welcome

Last but not least, if you are not developper, you can
contribute and
help a lot the Mac OS X porting project with monetary
donations using
Cusoon Paypal : http://www.cusoo.org/spip

Thanks !!

I'm glad that you are inputting issues for what you are
doing, its
makes it easier to follow.

Maybe we could take the TODO list you sent me and input
issues for
those items as issues, and attach them to a master like the
"top
ten". Then everyone can know what is being worked on.
For instance,
I didn't know until I saw in IRC that someone was looking at
drawEPS.

If you like, I could input the issues from the TODO list,
and then we
could discuss further tomorrow on the conference. Let me
know what
you think.

Thanks,

Mike

Eric,
Excellent! Looks real sharp. A lot of the lag I
experienced after
my initial compilation is gone. One thing I am noticing is
that if I
am working in OOo and I focus on another part of the app,
say the
font menu, to focus back into the text area (this is in
Writer) I
need to resize the Window. Definitely runs smoother than my
last
compile though.

This is exciting!

Pax,
