has the new openct release. with this release we move the
scripts run by
udev to /lib/udev, if you still use hotplug you can copy the
usb script
as usual to /etc/hotplug/usb/.
We have experimental hotplug support for pcmcia card readers
too, but
only based on udev (if you figure out how to write a proper
hotplug
usermap file, e.g. for the cardman 4040, please let us
know).
This release replaces the global claim_interface code with a
per reader
set_parameter call. It works fine with a number of tokens I
tesed, but
I can't test all drivers, feedback is very welcome.
openct-control and ifdhandler now need three parameters. The
scripts in
the release have been updated, so remember to replace your
hotplug and
udev scripts with the version in this file. See the
doc/QuickStart.html
for how to install those.
Now you need to specify the device and driver in the config
file, if you
use some static configured driver (e.g. serial smart card
reader). But
everyone did that anyway, so this shouldn't be a problem.
Device
guessing via the "auto" driver is no longer
supported, but I can't
see how this could have ever worked.
Because we have three parameters to openct-control attach
and ifdhandler
we always know the type of a device (usb, serial, ...) and
thus we don't
need code to guess it from a device name. removed, that code
was quite ugly.
also openct had some unfinished work on device
identification (for the
"auto" driver?). wasn't used, was not working,
so it is also removed.
to my best knowledge all changes are abi compatible, so the
library
number is unchanged, as functions in the library are not
touched at
all.
please give this new version a try. if no new problems are
found,
we can release 0.6.9 soon.
