Recommendation for 2048 RSA USB ?

Is the new Cryptoflex eGate any good?

(Ie. better than the old dongle?)

I'm looking for a sturdy piece of hardware. Other options?

The eGate itself is great, but last time I checked it wasn't
available in
dongle form. Is it now?

One thing I like about Cryptoflex is you can load up a
pkcs15 file structure
and certs with just OpenSC tools. No need to run
proprietary vendor
software.

I tried to buy some of those once but couldn't find a place

Aladdin etokens,
and they're nice but expensive, and they seem to keep
"updating" them so
they don't always work with OpenSC.

I just checked the Gemalto web store and it doesn't look
good. It seems to
say that Cryptoflex and Cyberflex are being discontinued
next month and
doesn't list a replacement. No mention that I can find of a
usb token.
Anyone know what's up?

Good luck with recent-firmwered aladdins with opensc. That's
the best
I can wish you.

I'm using the eutron cryptoidentity, and it's kinda nice.
I've been
told that opensc-formatted tokens are coming, however i
prefer using
mine with the charismatics pkcs15 format. Anyways, it works
nice
for storing my ssh key, and a https authenticator.

notwithstanding the EOL announcement on the gemalto
webstore, I noticed
that at least one distributor is selling cryptoflex egates
in dongle form:

.usasmartcard.com/component/page,shop.product_details/fl
ypage,shop.flypage/product_id,65/category_id,7/manufacturer_
id,0/option,com_virtuemart/Itemid,26/>

I'd never heard of a "reflex 531" reader before,
but based on the text and
the price, the reader pretty much has to be a egate
pass-through.

Depending on what you consider a reasonable price, you can
actually get
them directly from eutron. You'd want the
"CRYPTOIDENTITY DEMO KIT BASIC"
(which is 35 euro + 20% vat + 5-10 euro for shipping. a bit
more than a
cryptoflex, but it beats chirsons price...) Be sure to get
the itsec-i (or
I64, depending on the state of support for 64k cardos).

Is the CryptoIdentity better supported in OpenSC/CT yet? I
remember a year or
so ago you and I were fighting to get to work. I recently
looked at Eutron's
website and I noticed them claiming CCID compliance. Can
anyone verify if
this is true? Maybe it only applies to the "64"
models?

I'm pretty sure the patch that was commited as rev 826 of
ifd-eutron.c
made everything work for me. I no longer have useful
CryptoIdentity
devices to test with. I managed to screw up my itsec-i
(forgot pins), and
have refrained from initializing the itsec-p I got, due to
the somewhayt
write-only nature of starcos. (I was hoping to get an
eraseable test card
and figure out a way to create a re-usable profile, but
never got to it)

I meant "write once", of course. sigh.
