I have one problem with the list of engines. I have
submitted a new 1.1 feed for the British Library catalogue,
but the list still shows the feed as 1.0. I don't see any
way to change this.

Now that Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 is out, a lot of people
are
wondering where they can find OS 1.1 files.

To start with, there's A9.com. All OpenSearch-enabled
engines are
listed here: http://a9.com/
-/search/moreColumns.jsp . Unfortunately
there's no way (yet) to view only 1.1 ones, but most of the
new ones
use version 1.1, so try changing the "sort by"
dropdown" to "date
added". The "more info" link on each one
(if the SyndicationRight is
"open") goes to some info including the URL of
the OpenSearch
Description file.

IE7's "add search providers" function goes to
this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/searchguide/
default_new.mspx ,
where there are links to install various OpenSearch engines.
Most
(all?) of these only have results in HTML, not OpenSearch
Response.
They're using IE7's javascript function to add the search
engines, so
you'll have to view the HTML source to actually find the OS
Description files.

Several people have created similar pages:
http://scottwate
r.com/searchie7.aspx
http://www.clinteastman.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/opensearch/

http://www.prowebsites.net/Internet_Ex
plorer_7/IE_7_Search_Providers.asp#1
http://www.ae35-uni
t.dk/iesearch/

The last of those is for Danish search engines, including
Danish-localized versions of multilingual search engines and
Wikipedia. It has a little tutorial (in Danish) for making
OS
Description files. Unlike the others, it also provides links
directly
to them, so you don't have to view the page source.

As nice as it is to see these, I actually hope that they'll
disappear
eventually, as all those search engines and other websites
make their
*own* OpenSearch implementations, including using OpenSearch
autodiscovery. Thanks to a recent post on the IE blog
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2006/02/07/527266.aspx I've seen a
lot more sites adding autodiscovery (okay, so there were
only several
before ).

Bill,

I'll take a look at this. Also, if anyone else has had
troubles during
an upgrade, please sent me a note.

Cheers,
