Hi,

Do you know if BMC Patrol has done any work to monitor for FMA?  If not, what info should I pass to my customer so they can start integrating FMA into their BMC Patrol framework?

Thanks,

I'm not aware of any integration from BMC patrol, but I am
not at all
familiar with that product.

Your customer could set up snmp trap notification of FMA
fault events.
See http://blogs.sun.com/wesolows/entry/a_louder_voice_for
_the
and the recently-opened fmd PRM document (chapter 15) found
at
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/fm/FMDPRM.pdf.

Note that the latter document details many aspects of the
Solaris Fault Manager, but your customer should be careful
not to write scripts etc that rely on unstable (in the
attributes(5) sense). The manpages for the fm* commands
indicate the interface stability levels.

Cheers

Gavin
