Compile error while trying to build any of the 0.12.x versions of libsmbios

Hi, I'm trying to build the 0.12.4 of libsmbios on a x86
machine running
Ubuntu Edgy Eft. As I want to install the libraries I run
the make
install command in the root directory of libsmbios.
I always end up with the following error message:

ISmbios.h:233: Error: Unexpected character `7'

This is from a vanilla, freshly unpacked package directly
downloaded
from the dell website.

I've checked the file but couldn't find anything wrong.

Please help.
