yo dudes right i got an ipaq 3870 with bootldr 2.21.12 i tried to install opie familiar disto but not having much luck, each time i got to boot it gets no further than Uncompressing Linux........................................... done, booting the
 kernel.
on the screen of the pda it has the bootldr then it goes to tux and says please wait booting but then flashes back to the bootldr screen wtf is up with this.
 
in the terminal i get this keep comming up

It's almost certainly not a brick, so you can relax 

I'd suggest reflashing the root jffs2 image again (perhaps
worth making sure 
it matches the supplied md5sum first, in case the download
was corrupted 
somehow). Once you've done that and started to boot it up,
make sure you wait 
a reasonable amount of time (a few minutes) before declaring
it dead since 
the first boot can take a bit longer.

I'd also suggest making sure the device is powered from the
AC adapter but 
*not* plugged into your PC via USB for the first boot.
