I did not yet dive into this document, but have a side track
question:

When you introduced the preliminary version some time ago,
there have
been raised concerns that we need a document management
system for our
specifications, else they will soon rot and become
out-of-date.

Actually, to some extent this is already happening to the
existing
specifications, and those cover only *one* release. The more
specifications we get, the higher the probability of dead
corpses ...


In the process of re-thinking our specification handling,
did your team
also address this issue? I really hope that the answer is
"Yes, next
week the server goes online." , since
it's my *strong* belief that any
sophisticated document template will be of no use at all, in
the long
term, if we don't solve the problem of specification
document management.
