Hi *,
Sometimes I seem to mis new specs.
I'm subscribed to this list and to announce specs.ooo
As well as most (I think) dev-lists.
Is there something else (convenient pls ) I can
do to see what comes
new?
Thanks,
Cor

What I noticed in practice, is that each component (sw, sc,
graphics...) has its own mailing list called
"features" (ex:
features sw.openoffice.org). Most of the specs are sent using
those
lists.
It is true however that it would be nice to have a
centralized mailing
to receive all specs.

allfeatures openoffice.org collects the mails from the single
project's
feature lists.
However, when a mail is sent to features <project>, this normally means
the implementation is done.
In earlier phases, specifications, and specification
changes, are
expected to appear at announce specs.openoffice.org.
However, the habit
to do so is not very wide-spread ...
Ciao

RESOLVED DUPLICATE of a RESOLVED LATER issue? This is
ridiculous. If
collab.net is unable to fix this in our current
installation, then we
should at least stop advertising the list at
http://www.
openoffice.org/mail_list.html.
cc'ing dev website. Anybody with the power to remove this entry
from the
mailing list list?
Ciao

Thanks for the replies so far.
It may be obvious that my question is related to "a
hidden spec", that
caused #79950.
Though maybe I (only speaking for myself) am not unhappy
with the change
in question, it is not ideal that no spec has been presented
and that no
discussion at UX has taken place, for example.
Kindest regards,
Cor

Done; albeit with a bad aftertaste :-(
Within the given infrastructure (with the mentioned bug)
there is no way
to collect messages from several list in one. So there are
two options:
- we stick with a list per project
- we use allfeatures only for all projects
Opinions?

I would like to second this.- Even more. If we manage to
change this bad
habit, we will be able to save a significant amount of
engineering
effort by finding design glitches early on. More people can
take a look
at the specifications when coding has just started. Less
work is lost
when the concept has to be changed (for good reason) during
this phase.
my 2 billion cents
