re: oracle 10 on windows 2003
fyi
for some reason, using a SPFile ("init.ora"
parameters) we had a glitch upgrading from 10.2.0.3 to
10.2.0.4 ("15-July-2008 CPU") where ORADIM was
looking at an old PFile instead of the SPFile. (the PFile
was left over from an Oracle8 upgrade.)
ORADIM had startup errors because the SPFile had
"compatible=10.0" and PFile had
"compatible=9.2".
The problem does not appear to be documented.
Oracle Tech Support was barking up the wrong b-tree for a
while until a Windows DBA that happened to be on-site
noticed the old oracle registry setting pointed at the
PFile.
have a great weekend!
