Oracle 11g on SLES 10 SP1

Hi there,

has anyone installed the new oracle 11g on  SLES 10 SP1
(x86_64)?
during the installation i ran into the following error:

/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.2/../../../../x86_64-su
se-linux/bin/ld: 

skipping incompatible /opt/oracle/product/11g/lib/libxml11.a
when
searching for -lxml11
/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.1.2/../../../../x86_64-su
se-linux/bin/ld: 

cannot find -lxml11
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
genclntsh: Failed to link libclntsh.so.11.1

maybe someone could give me a hint where to find a solution
for that
problem.

Hi Arno,

What version of 11g you are installing? 

So for only x86 version is out (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/
products/database/index.html) and It should be installed
on x86 version of SLES10 (SP1). It works fine with x86
setup.

ok ... when there is only the x86 release out ... than i
should install 
it on a x86-System and not on a x86_64 System ...

this has to be said ...

Technically you can install it onto x86_64 linux, by
creating 32-bit 
oracle32 user (see 
http://ftp.portera.com/Linux/Oracle-32-env
ironment-on-Linux-x86_64.htm ). 
But if you already have Oracle running on the same server,
it can became 
tricky.
