Orca and other sounds problem

Hi all,
I think that this has already been discussed but i have been
unsubscribed from this list for some time.
I cannot play other sounds when I use Orca with speech. When
I receive a message on Gaim i can only use braille to review
it after the notification sound has been plaied. Using
Ubuntu Feisty. Any work around?
